UPDATED: 25th JUNE 2020
AS THE STATE GOVERNMENT OF VICTORIA STARTS EASING RESTRICTIONS, WE CAN’T BE MORE PLEASED TO BE ABLE TO WELCOME DINE-IN CUSTOMERS TO THE CAFÉ ONCE AGAIN!
As per the guidelines set by the State Government, be aware that the following policies will be in place to ensure the continued safety of all customers and staff as we slowly move towards a new kind of normal.
TRADING HOURS
- Regular Weekday trading hours are from 7am to 4pm.
- Regular Weekend trading hours are from 8am to 4pm.
- Every Friday, the café will be open for High Tea seatings only from 2pm to 4pm.
- Until further notice, we will not operate during any future Public Holiday.
BOOKINGS & CAPACITY
- Seating capacity will be limited to 20pax inside + 20pax at the courtyard. This includes infants & children.
- We will accept advanced bookings during weekdays only. On weekends, we will operate on a walk-in basis only.
- For weekday dining, customers can book ahead via OpenTable. You can start booking from Saturday, May 30th.
- Your credit card details are required when making a booking either online or via phone/email. You may be charged a fee for last-minute cancellations or no-shows ($10pp).
- Note that we won’t accept same-day bookings but customers are welcome to walk in.
- At this time, we won’t be able to accommodate large groups of people (groups of more than 6) due to the limited seating capacity.
DINING AT THE CAFÉ
- As per guidelines, we can only seat a max of 6 people (including infants and small children) per table.
- Be assured that each table will be properly sanitised before a new set of guests is seated.
- Until further notice, menus provided will be single-use and will be discarded after guests have left their table.
- As per guidelines and in the event we need to provide information to the Health Department for contact tracing, we are required to request for the following information from each guest (including infants and children):
- First Name
- Contact Number or Email
- We will keep Guest Information in our records for up to 28 days, after which, they will be erased or safely destroyed.
- Guests will be given a maximum of 1 hour to dine in all through the week, with no exceptions.
- Note that from July 21st, our courtyard will be closed to make way for some renovation works. This means outdoor dining will not be available and that we will not be able to allow pets at the café until the works are complete.
TAKEAWAY
- Take away orders can be made online daily from 8am to 3pm. Check our takeaway menu at www.hhcafe.com.au/menus. Customers can choose to pick the items up at the café, drive thru with minimal/no contact or to get these items delivered to their door (only within the 15km delivery zone).
- All our cakes (except Celebration Cakes) are available for same-day pick-up or delivery! Check our full range at www.hhcafe.shop.
- We continue to offer free delivery for all online orders of our cakes and merchandise to residents within a 5 km radius from the café. A minimal delivery fee applies for residents who live beyond that boundary up to 15km from the café.
- If you’re coming in for your usual takeaway coffee order, take note we are not accepting reusable cups at the moment. All take away drinks will be served in disposable cups until further notice.
- Note that we will limit entry to 5 customers at a time who are coming to order or pick-up takeaway at the café. It is highly advisable you order ahead via our online shop so you don’t need to wait long for your takeaway order.
HIGH TEA
- From June 12th, we will block off Fridays from 2pm to 4pm just for High Tea seatings.
- Starting May 30th, you can book High Tea at the café with a minimum booking of 2pax and maximum of 6pax only.
- All High Tea seatings need to be pre-booked & prepaid at least 7 days ahead. You can do this easily via our online shop.
- Until further notice, we are not able to accommodate special dietary requirements for High Tea.
FUNCTIONS, OTHER EVENTS & SERVICES
- Until further notice, our venue is not available to host any functions.
- Kids’ Cake decorating classes & Kids’ High Tea remain suspended at this time.
- Our Birthday Pop-up Dinner (Mad Hatter Pop-up Dinner) is still set to be rescheduled in the Spring 2020. Guests will be notified via email when we have landed new dates for this special event.
KEEPING THE CAFÉ PREMISES SAFE & CLEAN
- We’ve put up signs at each entry way, toilets and wash area regarding proper hand washing and keeping safe during your visit.
- We continue to double up the frequency of sanitation and disinfection inside the café, to keep it a safe space for staff and customers who are coming to dine-in and order takeaway.
- Additional hand sanitation stations are available inside the café to encourage everyone to keep their hands clean at all times while inside our premises.
- We discourage our staff from reporting to work if they feel the slightest bit unwell.
- If customers are showing any symptoms, we highly advice you avoid coming into the café. We reserve the right to refuse entry to symptomatic customers. We advise you stay home, rest and get better. We will be right here waiting for you to visit when you’re feeling well again!
- Be mindful of the markers put in place to make sure everyone maintain proper physical distancing at all times at the café.
- A host will greet customers at the entrance to advise and guide them on their safe entry into the café premises. Please cooperate accordingly.

Hi lovely people,
Given the restrictions I’m uncertain why you are not taking bookings for the weekend. I’m guessing you’ll be inundated on the weekends because we all miss dining in, in our favorite cafe, you’re mine👍Where will customers be waiting to maintain social distancing before being seated??
Thanks Jane
Hi Jane, thank you for your message! Our host for the day will advise and guide guests as they arrive at the café. Additional staff will help manage queues outside the café, including assisting in maintaining physical distancing between groups at all times during the weekends. We hope to see you soon!
Can we get take away coffee while lining up for a table?…..a wait is fine, as long as I can purchase a delicious coffee during it 😉
Yes, of course! Order ahead online so you don’t need to queue up too long for takeaway as well 😉
I cannot find where to book a table. Is it possible to book one today for two for 11.30am? Sorry I cannot see the “open table” tab where zip should book from?0
Hi Pam, you can book here: https://hhcafe.com.au/booking
Can we come in on a weekday and have a coffee and cake as opposed to something on the all day menu?
yes of course!
Hiya,
When will you be revising your day for Hightea bookings? I’d like to book a Saturday or Sunday.
If we made a regular booking could we order Hightea set up?
Hi Chantelle, we only accommodate High Tea bookings every Friday at the moment. We continue to review our capacity to add High Tea sessions on weekends and will update everyone when this option becomes available. Cheers!
